Steven contacted me from Vancouver, Canada, and expressed his dream of taking Korine (his girlfriend of more than three years) on their first trip to NYC together. The plan included sightseeing, shopping, and sports - and of course, to ask her to marry him! He wanted the proposal to be romantic, yet "very New York" with photos at famous locations, followed by dinner at the historic Le Cirque to celebrate their engagement. Steven had never been to NYC before, but he knew he wanted the scene to be set in Central Park, amidst the coming of Spring, famous landmarks, and surrounded by the scenic park and city views. We settled on Belvedere Castle for its classically romantic look, and Steven very specifically asked me if I could "be a ninja photographer" (which made me laugh), and follow them discreetly with my camera leading up to the big moment. He also wanted to give Korine a bouquet of flowers, which I helped to arrange at Stem Florist. Korine was totally caught off guard by the whole thing, and the proposal was followed by a very happy and emotional moment between the two. I may have gotten a bit misty-eyed myself... After giving the newly engaged couple a moment to bask in their excitement and wipe some tears, we walked together through the winding paths of Central Park, and stopped at several popular spots such as Bow Bridge and Bethesda Terrace. Korine and Steven were so wonderfully patient to try different locations and poses, while intimately sharing moments together, which made for some beautiful photos. Finally, after a long walk in the humidity it was time to stop at a cart and top off the photo shoot with some ice cream!
Here are some photos from the day...
