+ Kristen & Casey: Bridge for the future

It's not everyday you get to photograph two people who have been together around a decade, and can also call each other high school sweethearts. That was the case for Kristen and Casey! The night Casey wanted to propose happened to be quite warm, yet a gorgeous Sunday evening with a bright setting sun. It was perhaps the first weekend where one could say we actually had true summer weather! The grounds around Brooklyn Bridge were filled with people enjoying the balmy weather as I waited for Casey and Kristen - she had no idea what was about to happen! Casey put it beautifully when I asked why he chose Brooklyn Bridge Park as the setting for his proposal and engagement photos. He wanted the backdrop of the bridge to symbolize a literal crossing of the bridge (since they will be moving from Arizona to New York City in the future) as well as a figurative bridge (the connecting of two people, taking the next step in their lives, and eventually, the joining of two families). Beautiful! We started off with The Brooklyn Bridge Promenade by the East River,  where I secretly captured Casey proposing to Kristen at the top of Granite Prospect. She was in shock! Then we shot some portraits in the area, and made our way over to the other side of Brooklyn Bridge where Jane's Carousel and the Manhattan Bridge also made for some nice backgrounds. Kristen and Casey were totally easy going and all smiles the whole time. It was truly wonderful to see the couple embracing and enjoying the scenery and each other as the the bridge and city lights slowly grew brighter against the twilight sky.
