William and Sarah met a long time ago through mutual friends, and have been together for years. William had been planning to propose for quite some time before he got in touch with me, and had every detail thought of. Sarah had absolutely no idea what was coming and thought she and her boyfriend were going on a fancy dinner date. William wanted the night to be eventful, but still added personal touches that made the whole affair very intimate and personalized. For the proposal, William wanted to ask the question at the small and cozy Joan of Arc park located by Riverside Drive in the Upper West Side. The park sits right in front of his old apartment where he and Sarah share many fond memories from the earlier days of their relationship. It's where it all began! After the surprise proposal, and meeting a very shocked (in a good way!) Sarah, we shot some photos around the park against the setting sun as the newly engaged couple shared some moments with each other. William then had a car waiting to take them to dinner, where they toasted with champagne and excitedly called loved ones to announce the happy news. Another surprise awaited Sarah however -- William had reserved the wine cellar of Philip Marie, a quaint little restaurant in The West Village, which is one of few NYC restaurants that offers a private room for two. Our shoot wrapped up so that the two could enjoy their romantic dinner before the festivities continued with loved ones ready to celebrate later on that night!
Here are some photos to share from the big event...
