+ Marni & Erik: A hike and a hitch!

wedding date: September 26, 2015

Marni and Erik are a wonderful duo I had the pleasure of photographing for recently. They are New York natives, but when Marni contacted me for their wedding, they had just left New York for none other than beautiful, sunny San Diego. (I am pretty sure they had a psychic vision and foresaw the scary late winter that was coming.) Therefore, I "met" Marni and Erik over Skype on a Sunday morning to talk about their wedding. They were still in their PJ's. I had a great view of Marni; Erik, not so much. He sat behind her, mostly quiet, and probably still waking up. :-) Marni was full of energy though, bubbling with information and details about the wedding. She and Erik are active and outdoorsy, and one of their favorite things to do is hike through nature. This is what inspired her fall wedding idea, and though I tried to picture everything in my head, noooothinggg prepared me for the actual enchanted forest she had conjured up.

The wedding: intimate, gorgeous, fall leaves and colors, beautiful people, and a beautiful venue nestled in Greenwich Village. I know this is odd for me to say, as a photographer, but I honestly don't know if any photo could do justice to the absolute magic that was created in that small space. You really had to be there, and see it in person. If you were a guest able to attend, consider yourself lucky! The whole night had such a great energy; the autumn colors and decor really made for a romantic, warm, and sensual ambiance. And after the ceremony, everyone was ready to show off their dance moves. However, I will say, the absolutely highlight of the evening was "quiet" Erik (who isn't actually quiet at all - he was just saving himself for this moment) totally letting go and rapping along to the ENTIRE song of Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby... But enough of my story telling, here are some of my favorite shots from Marni and Erik's beautiful wedding...
