wedding date: September 12, 2004
Returning from my hiatus after a busy summer wedding season, I had the pleasure of photographing an adorable end-of-summer wedding for Vivian and Kenneth. Despite some of the cooler days we've started to experience here in New York, this wedding day was as summery as ever with the sun beaming warm and bright over us. Vivian and Kenneth have been together for many, many years now, and have finally decided to make it official with close family and friends. Though now residing in the San Francisco area, they are no strangers to New York as they used to live and work here, sharing a love for the NYC theater and arts scene. Even after leaving New York, they continued to return, and the first hotel ever spent together was at the Affinia Shelburne on Lexington. They felt it was only appropriate to return here after all these years, and the perfect little wedding venue was just upstairs at Rare View, the hotel's rooftop bar. Rare View is cute and almost beachy, with a relaxing vibe, and surrounded by stunning panoramic views of the city. Beautiful ivory roses and orchids were arranged for the decor, and Vivian wore an elegant blue cocktail dress. Vivian and Kenneth said their vows in front of loved ones with the magnificent Empire State building in the background. Vivian's daughters shared heart-warming speeches, and there were plenty of tears and laughs throughout. Love was in the air! And it was a wonderful way to top off the summer, and a great new beginning for all. Here are some photos from my afternoon with this lovely couple...
